Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November this year. Most families order sweets for three groups at once: the family table, the neighbours and friends who drop by, and the long list of colleagues, teachers and cousins. Sort out those three before you look at a single box and the rest is easy.
Start with who the sweets are for
For the family table, a large box of about a kilo covers a big visit or the puja plate. Most households choose one box everyone already likes, such as the Classic Diwali box with kaju katli, pista burfi, khoya burfi and motichoor ladoo, and one that suits their own region, like the Punjabi box.
For neighbours and friends, a 500g box is the one you hand over at the door. Kaju katli suits almost anyone. Milk sweets such as milk cake and dhoda burfi suit people who like something softer.
For colleagues, teachers and everyone else on the list, the 250g boxes do the job, and plenty of people order them by the dozen. The full range of Diwali sweet boxes is sorted by size.
The sweets people expect at Diwali
There is no fixed list, but a few sweets turn up in almost every Diwali box:
- Kaju katli: thin diamonds of cashew and sugar, often finished with silver leaf.
- Motichoor ladoo: tiny besan pearls fried in ghee, soaked in saffron syrup and pressed into rounds.
- Burfi (also spelt barfi): dense milk squares, plain or with pistachio, almond or khoya.
- Peda: soft rounds of reduced milk, often with saffron.
- Syrup sweets: gulab jamun, rasgulla and chum chum, for anyone who likes them soft and sweet.

How much to order
A simple rule: one large box for the family table, one small box for each household you visit, and one extra small box for each person on the long list. If guests are coming to you across the week, add a second large box rather than a pile of small ones.
Pickup or delivery
You choose the date at checkout. Pickup is free at our four stores in Arndell Park, Kellyville, Woodridge and Campbellfield, and pickup orders are packed for the date and time slot you pick. Delivery orders go by express courier anywhere in Australia. If the sweets are for a particular day, choose a delivery date two or three days before it, because courier dates can move.
Dates to know for Diwali 2026
- Pre-orders close on Thursday 29 October, unless extended.
- Delivery orders cannot be changed or cancelled after Saturday 24 October.
- Pickup orders cannot be changed or cancelled within five days of the pickup date.
- Diwali is Sunday 8 November.
